The FGG will award scholarships to 34 of the 239 persons that submitted complete applications. This is a 14.2% funding rate, which results from the fact that travel costs to Cologne Germany from the rest of the world are considerably higher than from Eastern Europe. If all applications from the rest of the world are taken into consideration, 12.7% of all applications were funded.
Historical perspective. Of the 199 applications received, 122 applications were funded in 2006. Because of visa problems only 92 scholarship recipients attended Gay Games VII in Chicago. In 2006, 61.3% of all applications received were funded. This year, 434 applications were received and 120 applications were funded – or 27.6% of all applications received.
