Team Chicago works to maintain a consolidated list of various LGBT Sports and Cultural Organizations in the Chicago, Illinois and surrounding areas including Southern Wisconsin and Northwest Indiana. If you have a LGBT sporting organization that you would like to have have added for our members, please email us with appropriate information.

Team Chicago Athletics, Inc - Sports and Culture

Team Chicago is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit Sports and cultural umbrella organization that represents the interest of all sports, all cultural events typically available for competition on a national and international level since 1982. In addition to representing the local delegation with national and international licensing bodies, Team Chicago provides travel, accommodations and logistical support to the delegation, raises funds to award minority and un-represented scholarships categories and provides awareness and education to the local community about LGBTQ Sports and Cultural needs and availability in the Chicagoland Communities. Founded in 2005 by 12 rowers as a team for Chicago’s Gay Games, Chicago Rowing Union (CRU) is proud to be the Midwest's one and only LGBT rowing organization, and one of three such clubs in the world. Our membership is a diverse group of men and women, from varied backgrounds, age ranges and experience levels. Whether you are a seasoned rower or new to the sport, we have a spot for you! And being gay is not a requirement – we are open to all. Anyone that wants a great workout and a true sense of camaraderie and team work will enjoy membership in our club.

Originally named "Qrew Chicago", the team’s name changed to Chicago Rowing Union in 2009. Our season runs from April through October, with annual winter indoor sessions, and competitions in the Midwest, around the nation and even some international races too.

The Chicago Frontrunners/Frontwalkers club has a diverse membership of about 150 runners and walkers. We offer regular fun runs and walks, social events, volunteering opportunities and a monthly newsletter.
We welcome runners and walkers of any ability. Whether you're interested in a casual stroll, a brisk workout, or racing, we're likely to have members you can participate with. After each run/walk we eat together at a nearby, modestly priced restaurant.

Proud To Run is a 10K run and 5K run and walk that celebrates Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex/Inquiring, & Allies (LGBTQI&A) pride.

We welcome everyone who wishes to join us in the celebration to show support, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression. Team Chicago and the Federation of Gay Games helps to coordinate the "Rainbow Memorial Run" at this event as a way to remember and honor those who have past away in LGBT Sports.

Our women's rugby team began in 1976 and is still going strong! Legend has it that the Chicago Women's Rugby Team was founded by a bunch of women who thought they would show their husbands and boyfriends just how rugby was really played.

Sailing

The Gay and Lesbian Organisation for Racing and Yachting (GLORY) http://www.GlorySailing.org is a global organisation dedicated to promoting, co-ordinating, and supporting gay and lesbian sailing and racing around the world. GLORY represents teams and organisations world-wide with over 2000 members. We exist to assist individual sailors, clubs and teams in promoting the sport of sailing among lesbians and gays.

The Chicago Smelts encourages fitness, friendship, community, and competition through swimming. Membership is open to everyone including gay-friendly straight swimmers.
