Gay Games VII Anniversary Event

Chicago Celebreates GGV7 and Looks forward to GG9

Saturday, July 13th 1-3 PM

Seven years ago Chicago welcomed the world to the 2006 Gay Games. You are invited to join with fellow athletes, artists, volunteers, sponsor representatives, friends and family for the unveiling of a permanent legacy to that event at Chicago's Center on Halsted (3656 N. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL)

Former participants and volunteers are encouraged to wear their Gay Games Chicago uniforms, t-shirts, medals, pins and more.

Representatives of Cleveland+Akron 2014, the site of the 9th Gay Games, will be on hand to answer questions about that event scheduled for August 9-14, 2014. Those who register at the event will save money on their registration fees.

The event will take place on the 3rd Floor of the Center on Halsted. There is no cost to attend.

Team Chicago Athletics and Culture was part of the local organization who worked to bring the games to Chicago, hosted the games and outfitted the largest delegation in our history! The 8 day event and the two years leading into it made history and changed the perceptions of LGBT sports locally and helped it to grow leaps and bounds. Many individual lives were changed and people discovered themselves in the process! Today is the day to celebrate these achievements!

CMSA Women's Soccer Leage Return this September

A note from Women's Soccer Co-Commissioner Sam Hamilton:

Some exciting news received last night for locals interested in the Women's Soccer League!

This is Sam Hamilton Co-Commissioner for CMSA Women's Soccer. I took sometime off this year but decided to come back and run the Fall Women's Soccer league this season. I found a permanent HOME for CMSA Women's Soccer League. I am looking at Clarendon Park Grass field (Clarendon/Marine Drive), they have an opening between 9am - 12pm all year round.

I am working on my budget and getting ready to send the board my proposal so please hang tight I still need to get an approval. We been getting bombarded with over 50 emails from many NEW girls about our league. - I will keep you inform by next week. I am starting it early so I can give everyone enough time to sign up for the fall.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me at womensoccer@chicagomsa.org to my attention and I will gladly answer any questions you may have. We're looking at 9 weeks between 9am - 12pm Saturdays from Sept. 7th - Nov. 2nd including 2 days playoffs. Thanks and have a great weekend!

Team Chicago Athletics and Culture appreciate locals like Sam for taking up the leadership and doing the lots of work involved in running a sports league as we prepare for Gay Games 9 in Cleveland/Akron August 9-16, 2014.
